I’ve seen this question a zillion and one times, but I got it again in my in-box the other day. I’m paraphrasing, but it was basically:
“You’re stranded on an island, and only have a barbell and plates. What kinda workout would you do?”
Now, we all know this ain’t ever gonna happen (and if I *do* end up on a real-life version of “Lost”, then my workout will likely be the last thing I’m thinking about…esp if Evangeline Lilly is there with me…rowr! …
…just like you’re never gonna be asked to “only do 3 exercises again for the rest of your life, so what do you choose”, and the like.
But, thinking about such scenarios do make you focus your priorities, and make sure you’re getting the most “bang for your buck” in your workouts.
So what would I do? Probably a modified version of my muscle building programs, Body Armor.
Because with one simple (notice I didn’t say “easy”) program, I could:
1 – build all the muscle mass and get as big as I wanted
2 – be strong and powerful (and get better at both at the same time)
3 – still improve my conditioning, meaning I’d not only have the cardio to go along with my size and strength, but also have a healthy heart & lungs to match
4 – do athletic-based movements, meaning I could move around and do stuff…not just be a ‘pretty boy’
So, if I could do all that with a modified version of Body Armor, using only a barbell and plates, why not add some pretty basic equipment that any gym would have (rack, bench, chin bar, etc.), and really kick some ass?
That way, if Ben Linus does end up showing up for some crazy reason, you can fight him and the “Others” off if you have too (depending on what season of “Lost” you’re watching…LOL).
