A Bodybuilding Workout?

When it comes to wanting to do new muscle building workouts, there seem to be a lot of different sentiments on what to do and how to do it, but one there seems to be one thing that everybody agrees on…

Bodybuilding sucks.

See, I ain’t gonna lie – a lot of people are interested in packing on some muscle mass. But, they’re going to different places now to get their info.

In years past, if you wanted a new workout routine, you’d head to the local supermarket or bookstore, and check out the latest bodybuilding magazine. These things are packed full of different programs, all done by “the pros”. So the workouts must kick ass, right?

Uh….nope.

First of all, most of these articles weren’t written by the guy that the magazine says wrote it – they were written by “ghost writers” (people hired to write articles for the magazine). They just slap the names of the pros on them.

(How can they do this? Endorsement contracts. But that’s a whole other story.)

The main problem is that these programs are so volume heavy, that the average person (i.e. – non-performance enhancing drug user) just wouldn’t ever excel on them…at least not for the long term.

That has created a long-term negative stigma toward bodybuilding. Drug use and banana hammocks aside, the routines advocated by most bodybuilding trainers and the like have lost pretty much all credibility. And in turn, “bodybuilding” as a whole (however it’s defined) has lost credibility.

Which, IMO, is a shame. B/c at its base level, there is *nothing* wrong with bodybuilding. You just have to do it the right way.

Do your basic strength & power work. After that, you hit up some extra assistance work for the sake of pure vanity – stuff that makes you look good. Is there anything wrong with that? Of course not!

So what’s a good medium? A good balance? Something that puts on muscle, gets you strong & powerful, makes you look good, AND is a workout that your body will respond to?

The kind of programs that are in “Body Armor”, that’s what.

And even though it’s “cool” to talk junk about bodybuilding and bodybuilding training…which is taken to the complete extreme…the next time somebody wants to give you some shit b/c you wanna put some “polish” to your physique…

…tell ‘em to piss off. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good (as long as you can back it up, that is).
